Community Affairs, Culture and Recreation Committee
- To provide advice and suggestions on education, housing, medical, social services, poverty alleviation, job demand, development of social enterprises and other community affairs in the district.
- To organise and co-organise, promote and co-ordinate cultural, recreational and sports activities, civic education, community involvement projects and district partnership programmes etc., so as to enhance the sense of belonging of residents.
- To recommend and vet proposals raised by the government departments on the use of cultural, recreational and community facilities in the district to implement projects and activities (including cultural, recreational, sports and library activities organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department); and to vet funding applications within its delegated authority.
- To assist the District Council in vetting funding applications from local organisations for community involvement projects, cultural, recreational and sports activities, and to recommend the amount of funds to be approved and their priorities; and to vet funding applications within its delegated authority.
- To review guidelines and relevant procedures for the use of District Council funds and to propose amendments to the District Council where necessary.
- To submit work report to the District Council regularly for members’ scrutiny and reference.
- To set up working group where necessary to follow up activities and projects proposed by the Committee.
