Meet the Public Scheme

Purposes as follows:

  1. to provide more opportunities for District Council (‘DC’) members to get in touch with local residents or people working in the district;
  2. to gain thorough understanding of the opinions and problems faced by citizens through directly getting in touch with the local residents, and to handle or refer their complaints or requests for assistance; and
  3. to enhance public awareness and solicit public support for Government policies.

“Meet the Public Scheme” (the ‘Scheme’) has been held at designated venues and date/time in 18 districts since January 2024.  To further facilitate members of the public to participate in the Scheme, starting from April 2025, “Mobile Meeting Room” will be introduced under the Scheme in 18 districts apart from the designated venues.  The “Mobile Meeting Room” sessions will be held at suitable places and time according to district needs, with DC Members on duty in each session to handle inquiries or complaints from the public.  If members of the public wish to meet DC members under the Scheme, please refer to the following duty roster –

Members of the public may proceed to the venue where the Scheme is held to meet the DC members according to the duty roster above without making an appointment.  Also, they can make an appointment with the Southern District Council Secretariat at 2814 5800 during office hours (9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday) [Prior appointment is not applicable to the “Mobile Meeting Room” sessions].
